Our Membership and Committees
The IECEx Membership is two fold:
- Membership of the IECEx Management - The IECEx management is made up of countries that have a seat on the IECEx Management Committee (currently 36 Countries) with the task of overall management responsibility of the IECEx System and are represented by a National Member Body and officers who make up the IECEx Management Committee (ExMC).
- Membership of IECEx Service Providers and Users - Approved IECEx Certification Bodies (ExCBs) and their associated testing laboratories (ExTLs) along with IECEx Recognised Training Providers (RTPs) that provide the various IECEx Services used by manufacturers, Ex service providers and competent persons and key stakeholders. Introduction to the IECEx members
The member area is the main document library for its members and committees. The IECEx is made up of over 35 members countries, over 60 Ex certification bodies with 100's of Ex test laboratories, manufacturers and industry experts that comprise the IECEx members and committees. They include the Ex Management Committee (ExMC), Ex Technical & Assessment group (ExTAG), Ex Personnel Committee (ExPCC), Ex Service Facilities Committee (ExSFC), Ex Assessment Group (ExAG), and Working Groups made up of Ex technical experts. The objective of the IECEx with the support of its members and committees is to facilitate international trade in equipment and services for use in explosive atmospheres while maintaining the required safety, introducing benefits to manufacturers, regulators and users of equipment in hazardous areas by:
- reduced testing and certification costs to the manufacturer
- globally harmonised approach to conformity assessment
- reduced time to market
- international confidence assessment process of products, equipment, personnel and facilities
- one international database listing for certified Ex equipment & Ex components, personnel and facilities, referred to as the "On-line" Certificate of Conformity System
- maintaining international confidence in equipment, personnel, and services covered by the IECEx Certification
Who are the IECEx System Stakeholders?
IECEx stakeholders can be categorized into two groups:
a) “Participants Group”, which includes:
- Member Bodies of the IECEx System.
- Certification Bodies
- Testing Laboratories
- Accreditation Bodies
- Manufacturers
b) “Users Group”, consisting of all those that have the need to correctly select equipment and services, such as:
- end-users
- consulting engineers
- regulators
- inspectors
- repairers
- other government agencies (trade, technical infrastructure, foreign and domestic policy)
- other international standards organisations
